The history of hair wrapping
Hair wrapping in different cultures and different times
Hair braid wraps have roots in ancient Egypt!. Egyptian women wove coloured threads, ribbons, beads and flowers into their hair braids. The wealthier Egyptians wove tubes of gold onto each braid.

Soon, many people in the rest of the ancient world were practicing hair wrapping - the practice became very fashionable in medieval Europe.

Hair wrapping became hugely popular again in the sixties, spreading around the world from the beaches of California - the hippie hair revolution!

Today, hair wraps are a great children's hair style, they create cute festival hairstyles and add a unique flair to your hair styling for any occasion.
Hair wraps - not just for kids!
Younger kids love hair wraps. Hair wrapping parties are great fun. Older kids can design their own floss hair wraps and wrap each other's hair. Younger kids may need a grown-up or a teen to do the wrap for them but they love designing their own.

Thread hair wraps are great whatever your age! Get creative and make the best music festival hairstyles. Let's not forget the guys too. Braided beards look awesome, making facial hair into art!
Festival hair braid wraps
Hair braid wraps create easy festival hairstyles or just hair that's 100% unique to you. Customise your hair wraps with boho charms, rags and flowers.
How are hair wraps made?
Wrap your hair or make a reusable boho hair extension
Wrap your own hair
Make a ‘semi-permanent extension’ in your own hair by wrapping around a braided section. A hair wrap made this way can stay in your hair for weeks.
Wash it carefully with your own hair. You can even swim wearing a hair wrap. When you want to remove it, snip the knot at the bottom of the thread wrap and unwind the threads.
Reusable boho hair extensions
Making hair wraps as extensions is easy!

Create a hair wrap extension using wool, or another type of yarn, in place of your hair. This means that you can wear it whenever you like and take it out when you feel like it... you won't have to wash it with the rest of your hair or sleep with it in.

Use some doubled-over lengths of wool or yarn, doubling the length means that you have a loop at the top.

Now you can attach your wrap. To do this, create a small braid at the scalp, then loop the wrap through a section of the braid. Or, you can simply clip it in. You can even attach it to a hair elastic and wear it on a ponytail.

About us
Ruby Rogers
Ruby is the reason Doodle Braids came to be! When she was around 8, she was obsessed with hair wraps but we couldn't afford to keep up with her changing styles! That's why we sat down to develop a kit that enabled mums, dads and kids to make their own hair wraps.

Since then, we've created kits for all occasions and all ages.
Ruby now manages social media for the company and is studying Theatre and Performance at university.
Naomi Walker
Naomi is mum to Ruby and the alleged brains behind the business!
Naomi works as an artist and writer, as well as leading the Doodle Braids empire! This means that she's able to create all the packaging designs as well as the company's online presence.

Naomi's experience with hair wrapping means that she's the ideal one to show people how it's done.

Ruby and Naomi live in Northumberland in the UK.
